Michigan Legislative News

The language for the recall petition of Bill Shuete has been approved and will be available for your signatures at all compassion clubs and horticultural shops in Muskegon County soon! Please check in when you stop buy and see if they have it yet! Only registered voters can sign the petition! We need 850,000 signatures! There are already over 100 thousand registered patients! Vote them out!

Here in Michigan we have passed a medical marijuana law by 63% of the popular vote! Our legislators at the time put no effort into the creation of this law because most were getting voted out and we are left with a basic law and a lot of confusion! Yet our lawmakers and local cities and municipalities try to squash it or ban it and in Lansing yes even try to get the votes to overturn it in the house! It is very important for you the patient and as a voter that you use your vote to change these actions! Here we will try to keep you up to date with what is happening in our local area and at the state level in Lansing

We as patients are growing in number! Currently there have been roughly 126 thousand applications and growing for the Michigan Medical Program and that is a large chunk of voting power. I’ve always said if you don’t vote you can’t complain and it’s true more now than ever! Our legislators continue to fight the people that have voted them into office and their wishes. When we fight to get something on the ballot and we get enough people to sign that petition, we have done our job! We got it on the ballot!!! 63% of Michiganders are in favor of this law and it passed. The fight isn’t over, there are people in Lansing currently trying to get enough votes in the house to overturn this law!! Pay attention

Our State Attorney General is trying to restrict the MMMP program so much so that many patients would be without means to obtain medication unless it is in the black market. He wants not only to have caregivers plants marked per patient but would require you to have each patients plants in a separate locked grow room, this would undoubtedly drive the cost of medication way up! Just think if you had to buy everything separate for every patient?  He wants to restrict caregivers to only selling to their own patients and stop patient to patient or caregiver to caregiver transfers so if something happens and your primary caregiver cannot supply you, you will have no ability to obtain medication! These changes could easily become law if you do not act and contact your Representatives and Senators and let them know how you feel!

Michigan AG Latest written opinion sent out to all law enforcement. In his written opinion of late, Mr. Schuette has said that if the police confiscate medication from a patient, the officer can’t return it because that would open the officer up to federal law and possibly be charged with transportation and distribution of a controlled substance. Granted, in most current situations, the police do return medication if the patient is proven to be legal. That is at this time!

Ask your Representatives and Senators to oppose SB 377 and SB 418

SB 377 Would send your name and information to to the State Police with or without a warrant! Supposedly this is so law enforcement can verify you are legally registered with the MMMP program. There is currently a data base for law enforcement to call and verify. Why do we need another?

SB 418 would take away your rights to fight discriminatory ordinances designed to thwart your rights as a citizen as well as a medical marijuana patient! This measure would take away your right to sue the individual city or township against such discriminatory ordinances that violate state law!! Exactly what Norton Shores is trying to do!

President Barrack Obama

In 2008 Then candidate Barrack Obama promised he would not interfere with states medical marijuana laws. He lied! He is raiding dispensaries at twice the rate the previous administration did! Call and voice your opinion!!
